In the European Year of Equal Opportunities for All, the first large exhibition dedicated to five centuries of women’s art, featuring 200 works by 110 artists including Sofonisba Anguissola, Camille Claudel, Lavinia Fontana, Frida Kalho, Marietta Robusti Tintoretto, Tamara de Lempicka, among many others.
LEONARDO. DAGLI STUDI DI PROPORZIONI AL TRATTATO DELLA PITTURA, MILANO
In the Sala delle Asse, studies of the human figure and the modular division of the body are the focus of the exhibition dedicated to the genius of Leonardo da Vinci and his Treatise on Painting, including a number of drawings by da Vinci from the Windsor Royal Collection, the Ambrosiana Library of Milan, and the Gallerie dell’Accademia of Venice, in addition to an extremely rare model of a horse from a private collection, accompanied by other historical materials such as a drawing by Verrocchio, 16th-century manuscripts, original drawings and etchings by Antonio Canova, and prints by Giuseppe Bossi.

Emilio Vedova, who while still alive had enthusiastically accepted the proposal of the City of Venice to organise a small one-man show at Sant’Erasmo, is showcased in the restored spaces of the Torre Massimiliana with a selection of works from his most celebrated cycles of the ’70s and ’80s:…cosidetti carnevali…, Plurimi-Binari, Frammenti e schegge, Arbitri…. The Plurimi-Binari of the cycle Lacerazione III 1977-1978 and a part of the…cosidetti carnevali…1977-1983 are on show for the first time ever.

ALBERTO MARTINI, VENEZIA
Alberto Giacomo Spiridione Martini (Oderzo, 24th November 1876 – Milan, 8th November 1954) was an Italian graphic artist, illustrator and painter, a forerunner of the Surrealist movement. Martini’s works are characterised by a great breadth of views and a boundless imagination. His luminous pastel paintings with extremely soft colours always stir emotion, joy, curiosity, and mystery.
LE IMMAGINI DELLA FANTASIA, SARMEDE
“The Images of Fantasy” is an international exhibition of children’s book illustrations. The idea for the exhibition came about in 1982, based on the intuition of Štěpán Zavřel, the well-known Prague-born illustrator who made his home in Rugolo di Sàrmede, Italy. Since its inception, encouraged by the growing success and the invaluable collaboration of many artists, each year the exhibition showcases more than 300 works from all over the world, offering a fabulous journey into the fantastic collective imagination of each country.
