I’d say that starting with a simple ”Hello, girls” is always the most spontaneous way to break the ice, but today’s task is more than just a little difficult for me; this will be my first post on Stefanel Choices! Friends, I’m sure that you will read my post at the end of the summer, but with your head still resting on the sand: in a group, with your love… or with your lover.
For this very reason, when they asked me to contribute to Stefanel Choices, free to choose any subject I wanted, I thought: okay, Chiara, let’s stay with the vacation theme for a while, but let’s deal with it in a particularly emotional way. How, you may wonder? Here’s my idea, to tell you about a few of my summer moments through music, what I jokingly call my Summer Holidays Soundtrack, sharing some tunes stored on my iPhone as well as those that inadvertently became part of my vacation. Just before I left town I updated my music library, connecting songs with what I imagined would be moments on my trip (it’s true, I love to live my life as if it were a great film!).
The first step when you start a trip is the traveling phase, that is, a succession of taxis, planes and shuttles. To accompany these moments, so you don’t get tired and so you maintain that excitement of going on a trip, I used a piece that I am crazy in love with, “Summer Paradise” by Simple Plan. Obvious, right? Maybe, but I never made a more perfect choice! The first notes are accompanied by the sounds of the sea and this alone says at all. A rhythm for the beach and for crazy, carefree outings with friends, with that group that sticks by you and can always make you smile! Not to mention that it features Sean Paul, who makes everything beautiful!
Second step, I arrive in the Big Apple! My beloved New York City!
JFK airport, a New York taxicab (I know it’s a taxi anywhere else, but for me a New York taxi is the taxi par excellence). The streets, the buildings, the people… everything about this city says something new and unforgettable. In NY, it’s like everything is pulsing with life, but with an extraordinary life. I wanted to listen to something that would sustain and keep up with my adrenaline. I looked through music library and what did I find? “Starships” by Nicki Minaj, irresistible! Everything started to take on color, which in a city like New York doesn’t happen often, believe me!
After relaxing in the hotel for a while, a little refresher and we were on our way, ready to start our big adventure! Now don’t say, “Chiara, it’s always the same with you, you’re always thinking about shopping,” but girls, I am in New York, how can I not think about it? It would be like going to an Italian restaurant and ordering Thai rice… come on! Picture this: window after window after window, but like no other place in the world! I felt like the star of “I Love Shopping” and a bit like a modern-day Cinderella. The soundtrack? Without a doubt, “I Love You, Ono” by Stereo Total!
The days in New York were long and intense. There are two other songs in particular that I want to share with you, both for that most magical moment in the whole vacation. You know when, during a trip with a person you love, sitting on a train or in the hotel, you realize that he has fallen asleep you start looking at him with a tenderness that is so powerful it could explode? At this moment, when he’s not looking at you, you finally feel completely yourself, no filters, no veils, with only that unconditional love and passion that comes out of you to envelop him unaware (an incurable romantic, I know!). Ricky (my love) didn’t know that he was the subject of two beautiful pieces, the first, “My Kind of Love” by Emeli Sandé and the second (because you always need some Italian talent) “Tra due minuti è primavera” by Annalisa.
So, what do you think? Did I choose well?
And what about you? Which songs did you listen to during this magical summer?
